Delia Cannings and Lauren Kyle will discuss the latest progress on the Level 2 Cleaning Hygiene Operative Apprenticeship - driving skills, standards and recognition within the cleaning industry. They will explore how the UK Cleaning Career Development Zone is helping to signpost people to opportunities for professional growth to develop careers in cleaning. Delia was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for education and training within the industry.
Lauren Kyle, BCC Project Lead & Freelance Consultant, worked part time as a cleaning operative while still a student.
She then spent several years teaching, before moving full time into cleaning and facilities management. She was Head of Cleaning and Soft FM at Sodexo before starting her own consultancy in 2023. Lauren is passionate about supporting talent development in the industry.

Starting as a cleaner at 20, he’s since overseen operations for the London Olympics, Formula One and Commonwealth Games. A chartered professional, he mentors future leaders and serves on the CSSA Northern Community Group.
Heather Andrews has 20 years’ experience in the cleaning industry. She first started at 16 cleaning tables in a shopping centre, progressing on to managed waste at the same shopping centre, eventually becoming a waste management supervisor.
She achieved her level 3 apprenticeship in Team Leading and Managing within this time. In 2021 Heather left her waste management supervisor job and started working for OCS as Deputy Venue Housekeeping Manager based at Manchester Central Convention Complex.
In 2023 Heather was promoted to Venue Housekeeping Manager (Contract Cleaning Manager), taking onsite control at Manchester Central for OCS. In 2025 Heather achieved her level 5 in Operational Departmental Manager apprenticeship.
Mark Dulson, Venue Presentation Manager at Aintree Racecourse, started his career in Tesco's before joining the cleaning industry just prior to Covid.
He has now successfully managed three Aintree Grand Nationals and just prior to the Manchester Cleaning Show, will have spent 6 weeks in Australia working on events such as the Australian Open, SCG Ashes test and New Years Eve on Sydney Harbour as part of an International Management Exchange Programme.
Adam Williams is the Facilities Manager at Co-op Live.
He is an experienced health, safety and facilities management professional with a passion for delivering an unrivalled experience in world-class stadiums and arenas.

Kelsey Hargreaves, in addition to her role as Technical Manager at BICSc, is the youngest ever person to receive her chartered practitioner status and is a Youth Ambassador for Youth Employment UK and the Youth Futures Foundation.
She has experience in the cleaning industry over a range of challenging frontline positions within the NHS during the COVID pandemic. She brings extensive experience in site inspections, project management and overcoming the issues faced in operational cleaning service and particularly training models.
Joanne has over 40 years’ experience working within the cleaning and hygiene industry, having headed up Jangro for over 20 years and ensuring that the group provides an innovative and unrivalled offering and service.
Highly regarded in the industry, Jo sits on several industry boards and is proud to be a Court Assistant of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners.

He currently participates in the BSI technical committee TC/216 – Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics and represents the BSI at CEN working groups 1 and 3, helping to write methods for the medical area and food, feed and domestic use. Founded in 2001, MSL Solution Providers is a microbiological laboratory, specialising in efficacy testing of disinfectant products used in a wide range of environments, including cleanroom disinfectant validation.
Lisa Williams was the Regional Chair for the UKHA Yorkshire & NE region until 1st April 2025 and currently holds the position of Director of Housekeeping at The Grand, York.
With over 20 years of five-star hospitality experience, Lisa Williams brings an exceptional level of dedication, expertise to the UKHA. Her impressive career includes senior positions at some of London’s most renowned luxury hotels, including The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, 41 Hotel & Rubens at the Palace Hotel, W Hotel on Leicester Square and opening the Jumeirah Residences in Park Lane, amongst others.
Throughout her career, Lisa has garnered numerous awards that celebrate her personal commitment to excellence and the strength of the teams she leads. Recent accolades include the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024, Hotel Housekeeping Honours Awards, Housekeeper of the Year at The Hotel Cateys in 2023 and the AA Housekeeper of the Year.
Her leadership has also earned awards for her teams, such as Team of the Year and Best Opening Team, showcasing her knack for creating motivated, cohesive, and guest-centred teams. We know she will bring these team building skills to our association.
Lisa’s experience extends beyond the hotel industry; during the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked with the NHS’s Kings College Trust, gaining valuable insight into hospital-grade cleaning standards, which she later applied to enhance health and safety practices in hospitality.

Nancy Saddington is the Co-Founder and CEO of OrganicMondays.com. She began her career in a London-based professional services firm, working across Europe, and identified a universal problem: no matter the industry or country, workplace bathrooms consistently lacked essential products for women.

Janet Thompson is the Yorkshire and NW Chair at the UKHA and Executive Housekeeper at the Queens Hotel, Leeds.
She took over the UKHA role from Lisa Williams on of 1 April 2025. She is a highly motivated and experienced Executive Head Housekeeper from Yorkshire, with nearly 40 years’ experience in both 4 and 5 star hotels widely spread from North to the South of England.
Whilst working for WGC Janet was involved in the training and development of supervisors and head housekeepers along with managing 10 hotels with 2000 bedrooms combined. Janet enjoyed 2 glorious years in Jersey, responsible for a 285-bedroom hotel along with 29 self-contained apartments.
Her passion for housekeeping has been kept alive over the years by her constant interaction with other Executive Head Housekeepers and she looks forward to every monthly association meeting to share ideas and obtain information from a group that she has built strong relationships with over the years.
Victoria Fytche-Crossman is the Global Health and Education Lead at TOTM, a B-Corp, period positive brand making better products for people and the planet.
As a Women's Health Practitioner, she is passionate about educating people on what they use and why and has spent the last 10 years partnering with global organisations to help leaders build inclusive, productive and positive workplaces.

Paul Thrupp is Chair of the Independent Washroom Services Association and has enjoyed many senior roles within the FM industry, particularly the cleaning and hygiene sector, for over 48 years.
Formerly a Chair and Director of the British Cleaning Council, he was also a Director of the BCC (Exhibitions) Limited and Executive Council Member of the Federation of Windows Cleaners.
Matt Dean, Product Design Manager at ISS Facility Services, has extensive industry experience and is a strong advocate for safety, high standards and sustainability. He is a Chartered Practitioner of Environmental Cleaners, Fellow of BICSc and a CSSA Board Member. This year, Matt served as a Dragon for the CSSA Innovation Showcase.
Caroline Fennessy is a well organised and highly motivated specialist with over 15 years' experience in soft FM for both large and small international companies, specialising in the environment and cleaning hygiene.
A commercial and operationally experienced individual within cleaning management specialisms, with a proven track record in successfully leading teams through change with particular expertise across the healthcare sector where she was part of the NSoHC 21 development team.
Sharon Moss is Transformation Director at the Cedars Practice, NHS, Kent and is a highly motivated, proactive, experienced and enthusiastic professional with over 20 years’ experience in managing, facilitating and guiding teams to grow and improve within a Primary Care setting.

Neil Spencer-Cook, MBICSc, is Group Managing Director at BICSc. From a financial director role, Neil joined the BICSc senior management team in 2015.
He has a wealth of management expertise and has experience in hospitality and FM in numerous industries. Neil's passion is technology, especially when it can be used for efficiency purposes. Neil was the project lead on the creation of the BICSc CPSS Assessor app, BICSc Audit App, The BICSc Cleaning Supervisor’s Certificate, and delivered the virtual training platform and the associated BICSc Training App – to date over 95,000 courses have been completed online since its inception in 2021.
Michelle Brightly is Co-Founder of Ingage FM Training and brings 20+ years of expertise in recruitment, specialising in the cleaning and FM industries.

With over 35 years’ experience, Lorraine is recognised for her expertise in the cleaning and FM sectors, providing independent, professional health and safety, compliance and cleaning consultancy to a wide range of organisations across many environments - specifically high-end commercial facilities, healthcare, retail, leisure, hospitality, heavy industry, and the education sector.

Finding opportunities to build a career – often following on from training received whilst incarcerated – brings significant benefits. In 2023 she left her role as Sales Director for a large cleaning contractor as she wanted to deliver a business with a more meaningful purpose and support smaller businesses get bigger and better. Sam joined NGB Clean as COO in 2024 and has supported the business in its delivery of commercial cleaning with a mission to support men and women who have experienced the criminal justice system in an effort to reduce reoffending.
She spends time mentoring and training young entrepreneurs who run their own smaller cleaning companies and has a specific interest in providing career opportunities in the biohazard area of the cleaning sector.
As a business, NGB Clean delivers with a focus on sustainability and has also recently launched Ride, Recycle, Repeat - providing an inner tube and tyre recycling service to the corporate world, at the same time as generating funding to provide training for prison leavers.
With 55 years’ experience in the cleaning sector and a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, Barrie Torbett is a co-founder of No Going Back and NGB Clean, with a mission is to deliver training and job opportunities in the FM sector targeted at reducing re-offending.
As an ex-offender, Michael Chapman has turned his life around to build a successful cleaning and maintenance business.
Through hard work, integrity and dedication, he is steadily growing his company, creating opportunities for others, and proving that second chances lead to strong results and lasting change.

Neil has produced many international conferences and has also been an organiser and judge across a number of award programmes, working with global brands on international events. In addition to his role with C&M and the Cleaning Show, Neil is currently co-owner and director of Red Lemon Events Ltd and co-producer of the Corporate Star Awards.
Annette Houston is the Managing Director of FM Services Group, one of Ireland’s leading commercial cleaning and FM companies, employing over 200 people across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
With more than 30 years in the industry, Annette has led the company from a small local cleaning business to a multimillion-euro operation known for its innovation, quality and people-first culture. She is a board member of the Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce and she is also a board member and Director of the Irish Contract Cleaning Association.
Currently completing her Doctorate in Business Administration with Atlantic Technological University, Annette’s research explores resilient leadership and Psychological Capital (PsyCap) in the commercial cleaning sector. The research focuses on how to develop confident, capable supervisors and future leaders in an industry under increasing pressure to adapt and evolve.
A passionate advocate for leadership development, Annette founded Bright Academy in 2018 to deliver accessible training and support for their cleaning teams.
Drawing on her own journey from cleaner to CEO, Annette brings a refreshingly real perspective on leadership, resilience and the future of the cleaning industry in an age of automation and change.
Matt Dean, Product Design Manager at ISS Facility Services, has extensive industry experience and is a strong advocate for safety, high standards and sustainability. He is a Chartered Practitioner of Environmental Cleaners, Fellow of BICSc and a CSSA Board Member. This year, Matt served as a Dragon for the CSSA Innovation Showcase.
Joining Carlisle Support Services in 2015 as Managing Director and promoted to CEO in January 2019, Paul Evans oversees the transformation of the business.
With a career spanning the last two decades in the FM sector, and having worked his way up from the front-line, he is passionate about making sure his company’s business strategy remains aligned to its employee-led and customer-centric values.
Paul is also the Chair of the S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group, Vice Chair of the United Kingdom Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) and was previously Co-Chair of the Living Wage Foundation’s Recognised Service Provider’s Leadership Group, and an Executive Officer of the National Association of Healthcare Security (NAHS) from 2020-23.
