This panel comprises HR professionals, business owners and recruitment professionals and will look at the challenge of both attracting and developing talent to and within the cleaning and FM sectors. Since Brexit, recruitment has been a challenge for cleaning and FM businesses, large and small. Career development, particularly in a way that appeals to younger people, is also a significant challenge. How does the sector recruit good people and then structure a career path that encourages them to stay?

In addition to her role at BICSc is a Youth Ambassador for Youth Employment UK, Kelsey has experienced the cleaning industry in a range of challenging frontline positions within the NHS during the COVID pandemic. She brings extensive experience in site inspections, project management and overcoming the issues faced in operational cleaning service and particularly training models.

Lisa joined Exclusive Contract Services in 2011 as Human Resources and Training Director, having gained a wealth of experience working within the hospitality industry in various capacities both in operational and human resources management. Her current role involves supporting the business on all employment matters, complex restructures, employment relations, recruitment, succession planning, TUPE, and employment law. Lisa is also actively collaborating closely with industry experts to create and imbed diverse people strategies, and is passionate about improving staff engagement practices, coaching and creating succession plans to create opportunities across the company and the industry.

Michelle is also a Partner Founder for Ingage FM Training which focusses on upskilling individuals and helping to advance their careers through CPD education.

Whilst still a student, Lauren Kyle took on what was expected to be a part-time temporary cleaning job during the summer holidays. Over 30 years and a number of roles later she’s delighted to still be a part of this vibrant, forward-thinking and exciting industry. Now working as an independent consultant, Lauren previously worked at Sodexo, starting as a cleaning supervisor and finishing as Head of Cleaning and Soft FM Development. She has recently chaired the industry group that developed the new Level 2 Cleaning Hygiene Operative apprenticeship and is passionate about developing talent in the industry.
