Industry Panel: Current Landscape and Future Development Plans for Cleaning and FM in the Healthcare Sector

During this session, the expert panel will look at current challenges and will discuss plans to further develop the service offering, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Session Speakers
Nigel Grinstead is CEO of Open Junction. A highly experienced hands-on specialist with an impressive track record in the health and care sector, Nigel has over 25 years working with healthcare organisations throughout the UK resulting in an unrivalled depth of understanding of the nature and complexities of this sector.
Nigel is currently a CEO involved with Primary and Secondary Care and a NED for an international infection control business. He leads tender proposals and assesses performance for cleaning and hygiene contractors and has chaired and facilitated related national and international conferences.
Kelsey Hargreaves, in addition to her role as Technical Manager at BICSc, is the youngest ever person to receive her chartered practitioner status and is a Youth Ambassador for Youth Employment UK and the Youth Futures Foundation.
She has experience in the cleaning industry over a range of challenging frontline positions within the NHS during the COVID pandemic. She brings extensive experience in site inspections, project management and overcoming the issues faced in operational cleaning service and particularly training models.
Paul Thrupp is Chair of the Independent Washroom Services Association and has enjoyed many senior roles within the FM industry, particularly the cleaning and hygiene sector, for over 48 years.
Formerly a Chair and Director of the British Cleaning Council, he was also a Director of the BCC (Exhibitions) Limited and Executive Council Member of the Federation of Windows Cleaners.
Matt Dean, Product Design Manager at ISS Facility Services, has extensive industry experience and is a strong advocate for safety, high standards and sustainability. He is a Chartered Practitioner of Environmental Cleaners, Fellow of BICSc and a CSSA Board Member. This year, Matt served as a Dragon for the CSSA Innovation Showcase.
Caroline Fennessy is a well organised and highly motivated specialist with over 15 years' experience in soft FM for both large and small international companies, specialising in the environment and cleaning hygiene.
A commercial and operationally experienced individual within cleaning management specialisms, with a proven track record in successfully leading teams through change with particular expertise across the healthcare sector where she was part of the NSoHC 21 development team.
Sharon Moss is Transformation Director at the Cedars Practice, NHS, Kent and is a highly motivated, proactive, experienced and enthusiastic professional with over 20 years’ experience in managing, facilitating and guiding teams to grow and improve within a Primary Care setting.
A highly resilient individual with the ability to work effectively under pressure. Sharon has worked with teams to specifically create Super Partnerships. She has collaborated and worked with outside agencies such as CCGs (now ICBs), health boards and PCN groups.
Sharon has a successful track record of implementing new ways of working, implementing efficiencies in the workforce and in monetary savings in healthcare settings. Sharon’s priority is to make a difference in General Practice, to alleviate pressures for staff, offer amazing services for patients and to grow the GP business ensuring maximum income generation.
