Key health and safety considerations for managing waste from UK healthcare facilities

The healthcare waste management sector in the UK faces a number of challenges including treatment capacity, effective waste segregation, labelling and containment, and cost efficiencies. This presentation will briefly outline some of these issues and then focus on the use of circular economy principles that is being employed to address some of these challenges.
Speaker: Dr Terry Tudor, Senior Lecturer in Waste Management at University of Northampton
Terry is a Senior Lecturer in Wastes Management, in the Department of Environmental and Geographical Sciences. He received his first degree in Biology, from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill campus), followed by an MSc in Sustainable Wastes Management from the University of Leeds and a PhD from the University of Exeter. His PhD focused on sustainable waste management within the National Health Service in Cornwall.
He joined the University of Northampton in 2006 as a postdoctoral fellow, in the Wastes Management team, within the Department.
